Anaheim Mighty Ducks - A team whose name was chosen from the Disney movie The Mighty Ducks, the NHL club was formed in 1992
Atlanta Thrashers - The Atlanta Thrashers joined the NHL in 1999 and play out of the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia
Boston Bruins - The Boston Bruins are one of the "original six" NHL franchises and currently play out of the Fleet Center in Boston, Massachussets
Buffalo Sabres - The Buffalo Sabres entered the NHL in 1970 and play in the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, New York;
Calgary Flames - The Flames began play in 1972 out of Atlanta, but moved north to Calgary in 1980 and play in the Pengrowth Saddledome
Carolina Hurricanes - The Hurricanes joined the NHL as the Hartford Whalers in 1979, moved to South Carolina in 1997 playing in the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena
Chicago Blackhawks - An original six team founded in 1926, the Blackhawks currently play out of the United Center in Chicago, Illinois
Colorado Avalanche - The franchise began in 1972 as a WHA team, joined the NHL in 1979 as the Quebec Nordiques and moved to Denver, Colorado
Columbus Blue Jackets - The Blue Jackets are one of the younger NHL teams, entering the league in 2000 and playing out of the Nationwide Arena
Dallas Stars - Between 1967-93 they played in Minnesota as the North Stars, before moving to Dallas, Texas and playing in the American Airlines Center
Detroit Red Wings - An original six team, the Red Wings began NHL play in 1926 and currently call Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan home
Edmonton Oilers - The Oilers moved to the NHL from the WHA in 1979 and play at the Skyreach Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Florida Panthers - The Panthers are one of the younger NHL teams, having joined in 1994 and playing out of the National Car Rental Center in Miami, Florida
Los Angeles Kings - The Kings were part of the original NHL expansion in 1967 and call the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California home
Minnesota Wild - Professional hockey returned to Minnesota in 2000 as the Wild began play at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul

Nashville Predators - The Preds entered the NHL as an expansion franchise in 1998 and call the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville
New Jersey Devils - The team was founded as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974 and finally moved to East Rutherford, New Jersey in 1983
New York Islanders - The Islanders joined the NHL in 1972 and play out of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York
New York Rangers - The Rangers were one of the original six NHL teams, they began play in 1926 and call Madison Square Gardens home
Ottawa Senators - After an almost 70 year absense from the league, the Senators returned to the NHL in 1992 and play out of the Corel Center
Philadelphia Flyers - The Flyers were part of the initial NHL expansion in 1967 and play in the First Union Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Phoenix Coyotes - The Coyotes were formed in 1997 when the Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Their home rink is the America West Arena
Pittsburgh Penguins - Pittsburgh was one of the six teams added when the NHL doubled in size in 1967. They call Mellon Arena home
St. Louis Blues - The Blues joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 1967 and play at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, Missouri
San Jose Sharks - The Sharks were founded in 1991 and call the HP Pavillion in San Jose, California home
